Welcome to the website for Gîte "La Terrière" set in the Parc Naturel Régional des Causses du Quercy, an area of stunning natural beauty.
This newly renovated accommodation (originally an 19th century stone barn) has been lovingly converted into a charming 2 bedroomed gite set on the edge of the calm and picturesque village of Orniac, in the Lot valley.
The village of Orniac is 5 minutes from the local bars and restaurants in Cabrerets, where you are a short drive from the Grottes de Peche Merle. The beautiful old village of St Cirq Lapopie, voted by the French as the most beautiful village in France, is just 15 minutes away.
Both the Celé and the Lot rivers are within 5 minutes and provide the opportunity to try your hand at kayaking or just a relaxing boat trip. The more adventurous may want to hire a pleasure boat.
The rural gîte consists of 2 double bedrooms, both with ensuite toilet and shower facilities. A large living and dining area includes a fully equipped fitted kitchen with a washing machine. There is a log burner for heating and country ambiance and both English and French television and Wi-fi.
Outside the Gîte, there is an external terrace with a lovely rural view. Outdoor furniture and a BBQ are supplied and there is off-road parking.
The garden provides space for external activities. There is a lovely big walnut tree for shade and an area laid to lawn with great views. In the early morning and the evening, you can watch the deer roaming past and, if you are lucky, maybe a wild boar. We also regularly see buzzards, red kites and kestrels, along with a host of smaller birds.
The village of Orniac in the Lot is a traditional Quercy village with stone houses and pretty lanes where you can enjoy a quiet stroll checking out the abundance of wild orchids.
